A new way of looking at geological mapping
27th March 2006
CENTREMAPSlive has brought to market a new and convenient way of accessing British Geological Survey geological mapping.
The product can be viewed with the widely used and FREE Adobe Reader software (version 6 or later). This not only allows easy access to view the mapping but also enables the use of 'layers' where a simple click of a button will turn mapping information on or off. For the user, the benefits are the ability to see as much information as required whether it be just the bedrock or the bedrock and superficial information or any other combination.
Geographical location is identified with up to date Ordnance Survey mapping in the background. Again, this information can be turned on or off to improve the understanding of the geological structures.
Each map is supplied with a listing of bedrock and of superficial deposits identified in the area purchased.
Selecting the product is simple using the online interface at www.centremapslive.com. This enables the user to search for an area and then outline their required coverage ensuring that only the mapping required is purchased and that there is no 'edge of the sheet' issue.
