BlomURBEX extended - producing sections

As shown in the previous step, in addition to reading off values, sections can be extracted from LiDAR quickly and easily using Global Mapper and exported as XYZ comma delimited files. This information can be imported into CAD/GIS drawings for overlay on to the base mapping model.

AutoCAD users may find the ascpoint.lsp routine (by Tony Tanzillo) very helpful in instantly representing the data as a set of points or polyline. It is then a simple change of view in CAD to "flip" them up into a viewable format.

Having obtained a vertical plan and a source of base level values, it is possible to start building up a survey model connecting specific height values to topographic features.
