Detailed Height Information now accessible to all

15th September 2006

Height information is no longer restricted to those with a large budget or technical expertise and expensive software.

CENTREMAPS have through their CENTREMAPSlive service enabled access to height information for use with their range of OS MasterMap derived property level mapping.

For maximum simplicity, this new level of detail can be viewed in the form of contours (at 1 metre intervals) overlain on OS MasterMap information and supplied in an easy to access and use PDF format.

The contours are generated from NEXTmap Britain's 5 metre DTM (Digital Terrain Model) which represents the ground as a 'bare earth' surface meaning that features such as buildings and woodland are removed.

Andy Terry of CENTREMAPS commented that 'bringing this dataset online brings enormous advantages to our customers with height information being a critical consideration in most site level development'. He added that 'it is core to our service that this information does not require significant software investment and expertise and our PDF solution is an important part of this customer enablement'.
