Features and benefits

Ordnance Survey OS MasterMap®  Topographic Layer is a highly accurate, flexible resource covering nationally some 400 million man-made and natural features, from fields to pillar boxes.

For those requiring print ready formats such as PDF, the mapping is available in full colour or with building fill only to offer an alternative look and a print out requiring less ink usage for regular users.

Perfect for:

  • Site plans for planning applications
  • A highly detailed base for further detailed information
  • Engineering and Environmental Analysis
  • Site Development
  • Asset Management

Usable formats:

For simplicity, Ordnance Survey OS MasterMap®  is available from CENTREMAPSlive® in a range of formats to ensure the product meets your needs whilst avoiding unneccessary complexity and software requirements:

Print ready:

  • PDF - Simplest for viewing and printing the product. Use Adobe Reader version 6 onwards to view mapping in layers which can be turned on and off.
  • TIFF - An image format of the mapping. Can be viewed in any image editing package and can be simply inserted into documents.

Vector export:

  • DXF - Primarily for use in CAD (computer aided design) and GIS (Geographical Information Systems). DXF maintains the key features and accuracies of the data and offers a format consistent with the previous Land-Line / Superplan ranges.
  • DWG - Primarily for use in AutoCAD (an AutoDesk application).
  • GML - Offering the full richness of the MasterMap®  dataset, GML can be used in the latest GIS and CAD applications including AutoCAD 2006. To ensure maximum compatibility, CENTREMAPSlive®  conform to OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) GML.

Key Points

Mapping type Various formats derived from a national topographic database
Style Detailed mapping to building level
Used in Planning applications or as a basis for development and detailed land and property management
Can be put into Reports, design drawings, CAD software and GIS systems
Combinations Ordnance Survey OS MasterMap® works well when viewed alongside aerial photography and height data. Aerial photography in particular can give a great deal of information that was simply not required on a national basis when creating this dataset.

We would suggest caution when using this very detailed mapping with more general data such as 1:50,000 scale geology which will have been generalised for a local to regional application rather than property level usage.
Available as PDF (layered) document, TIFF image or vector formats for CAD and GIS software
Cannot Be viewed before purchase without a full 'Privelege Account'
Also consider 10k raster for a cheaper product offering a wider coverage but with slightly reduced accuracy and detail aimed at local and environmental studies
