UKMap Topo Points of Interest
The Points of Interest (POI) layer provides a geographic location and attribute for geographic and non geographic features, e.g. tube stations, leisure centres, fire stations, pubs, hotels and parks.
Each feature is classified into one of 16 categories:
- Transport facilities
- Central Government Institutions
- Local Government Institutions
- Local Community Institutions
- Sports and leisure facilities
- Recreational facilities
- Retail facilities
- Major commercial/industrial facilities
- Regional and Local area names
- Road names
- Environmental features
- Warning notices
- Residential building names
- Under construction
- Address point
Benefits
- Ability to create mapping for tourist, retail, or customised location mapping applications.
- Retail map to inform planning applications, colour coded map to show different types of retail sites and query to count total area and count of different retail types.
- Crime mapping – stop and search data on retail high street to look at location of incidents.
